Kelly Piquet Posts Celebratory Photos from Verstappen’s Mother’s Birthday
Sophie Kumpen, Max Verstappen’s mother, will celebrate her 50th birthday on October 30. The festivities took place last Sunday, and Kelly Piquet, Verstappen’s girlfriend, shared snapshots from the celebration on Instagram.
In her youth, Sophie Kumpen, like her ex-husband Jos Verstappen and their son Max, was a racing driver. She competed against notable figures like former world champion Jenson Button and three-time race winner Giancarlo Fisichella, even defeating Jarno Trulli at the 1995 Andrea Margutti Trophy. Kumpen married Jos Verstappen in 1996, after which she retired from racing to focus on raising Max and his sister Victoria.

With a break currently underway in Formula 1, Kumpen chose to celebrate her birthday a few weeks early. Celebrating on her actual birthday would have coincided with a triple-header weekend, preventing Max from attending.
Kelly Piquet was also present at the celebration and posted numerous images on her Instagram stories, featuring decorations adorned with ’50.’ One photo captured her daughter Penelope alongside Minnie Mouse, along with Sophie and Victoria’s children. Take a look at the pictures below.
