Why Sergio Perez Heads to the US GP Confident Red Bull Can ‘Bounce Back’
Sergio Perez believes Red Bull Racing can still surpass McLaren in the 2024 Constructors’ World Championship, thanks to an updated package being introduced for the RB20 at the United States Grand Prix. The Mexican driver cautions McLaren that if the updates perform as expected, Red Bull could “come out really strong.”
Red Bull Racing lost its lead in the Constructors’ Championship during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Following the race in Singapore, McLaren extended their advantage to 41 points over their rivals. Nevertheless, Perez remains optimistic that Red Bull can regain their winning form.
Why Perez is Confident in Red Bull
“We discovered many positive aspects with the car, so I truly hope we’re on the right track for the upcoming weekends. Being strong again will be crucial for us; I believe that will be the key,” Perez stated after the Singapore GP.
“In Baku, we made significant progress and discovered a lot. If we can build on that in the upcoming race weekends, I believe we can emerge quite strong. I’m excited about hopefully bringing a substantial package that could turn the championship around,” Perez added. The Mexican hasn’t reached the podium since the Chinese Grand Prix in April.
Red Bull won’t be the only team introducing updates in Austin. McLaren has also hinted at improvements, while Ferrari and Mercedes are making minor enhancements before shifting their focus entirely to next season.
