Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul

Mike Tyson vs Jake PaulThe highly anticipated heavyweight fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson has been rescheduled for Friday, November 15, 2024. Streaming live on Netflix from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, this event promises to be an unforgettable night of boxing.

Mike Tyson, who recently had to pause training due to an ulcer flare-up, expressed his gratitude to the medical staff and the event organizers. “Although we had to postpone the fight, I will resume training shortly. I am thankful to the medical staff that treated me and to MVP, Netflix, and AT&T Stadium for working diligently to find the best reschedule date for all parties,” Tyson said. “While we have a new date, the result will be the same no matter when we fight. Jake Paul is getting knocked out.”

The rescheduled event will also feature a rematch between fighters Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano.

Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions, highlighted the effort put into rescheduling the event. “Our team has worked diligently with all parties involved to reschedule this monumental fight to a date that ensures both Jake Paul and Mike Tyson are fully prepared, with equal training time, as well as allowing us to keep the event at AT&T Stadium in the midst of the Cowboys season. We appreciate the outstanding dedication, collaboration, and flexibility of our partners at Netflix and AT&T Stadium. Paul vs. Tyson is the most cross-generational sporting event in history, and we are committed to providing fans worldwide with this unforgettable night of boxing, live globally on Netflix. We look forward to seeing everyone on Friday, November 15 for a showdown that will be talked about for generations to come.”

Is the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight sanctioned?

Despite initial speculation that the Paul vs. Tyson bout would be an unofficial exhibition, MVP and Holden Boxing announced on April 29 that the heavyweight event will be a sanctioned professional fight, officially overseen by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR). The fight will consist of eight two-minute rounds, using 14-ounce gloves and no headgear.

“Mike Tyson and Jake Paul committed to this fight with the intention of having a sanctioned professional bout that produces a definitive outcome,” said Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions, in a statement to Netflix. He explained that opting for two-minute rounds instead of the traditional three-minute rounds for men’s boxing aligns with MVP’s belief that match parameters should be tailored to the specific fight rather than adhering to conventional gender-based rules.

“MVP has always supported fighter choice, advocating for flexibility in round lengths for women’s boxing based on the fight’s context,” Bidarian added. “Both the Paul vs. Tyson and Taylor vs. Serrano 2 fights will feature two-minute rounds, ensuring that each mega-fight will have a clear winner.”

On May 21, it was announced that Neeraj Goyat (18-4-2, 8 KOs), India’s top boxer and MVP’s inaugural international signing, will make his MVP debut in a professional six-round super middleweight bout at 165 pounds against Brazil’s Whindersson Nunes (2-2-1, 1 KO).

When was Mike Tyson’s Last Fight

Tyson’s last official boxing match occurred in 2005 against Irish boxer Kevin McBride, ending in a sixth-round TKO victory for McBride. However, Tyson’s most recent outing was an exhibition match in May 2021 against Evander Holyfield in Miami, which went the full eight rounds and resulted in a draw. Despite Tyson’s extensive career, he believes Jake Paul’s relatively short time in boxing shouldn’t predict his potential in their upcoming match.

“Jake has shown significant growth as a boxer over the years,” Tyson commented on his opponent, who turned professional in 2020 and was featured in the documentary series UNTOLD: Jake Paul, the Problem Child. “It’ll be intriguing to witness what a young fighter’s determination and ambition can achieve with the experience and skills of a legend.”

This event marks Paul’s most highly anticipated bout yet, following his consecutive knockout victories against professional boxers and Golden Gloves champions Ryan Bourland earlier this month and Andre August in December 2023.

“It’s unbelievable that in just my second professional fight, I became a viral sensation by knocking out Nate Robinson on Mike Tyson’s undercard,” Paul reflected to Netflix. “Now, less than four years later, I’m stepping up to challenge Tyson himself, aiming to prove myself against one of boxing’s most iconic and notorious figures.”

Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson will be Netflix’s third live sports event, following The Netflix Cup and The Netflix Slam.
